HVAC Systems - Blower Motor

Follow

The blower motor on furnaces and fan coils can produce heat during cooling mode. This added heat must be factored into the heat gain calculation to ensure the unit is properly sized and accounts for this added source of heat.

Over time, energy codes have required motors to become more and more efficient, which has reduced the amount of heat motors produce. In addition, most manufactures already de-rate their equipment in order to account for the blower motor.

If the manufacturer already de-rates their equipment you would select "Yes" on this screen. If they do not, you must select "No" and enter the wattage of the blower motor. Cool Calc will automatically populate this value if you do not know what it is.
